Abby’s Friends Gala
The Party: After golfers teed up for the Abby’s Friends Charity Golf Classic at the Daniel Island Club, they dressed in their best tropical-inspired clothes for the evening’s gala. The club’s banquet team served delectable small bites, including coconut shrimp with mango aioli, as guests perused the silent auction items. After snacking and placing their bids, attendees listened to keynote speaker and former professional baseball player Chris Singleton. He spoke about the importance of finding a cure for type-one diabetes, a cause for which Abby’s Friends has raised $3 million over the last 12 years. Highlight: Golfer Phil Roof won a Lexus for scoring a hole in one. Overheard: “I’ll have to raise my hand high—I need those Ariana Grande tickets!” Beneficiary: Abby’s Friends
