Society 1858 Winter Party: February 11, 2022

Written By Nicole Rosania The Party: Party-goers enjoyed a memorable evening in the Gibbes Museum of Art’s Lenhardt Garden during the Society 1858 Winter Party. Nearly 300 guests mingled under huge disco balls and around candlelit loveseats, dressed in elegant attire. Appetizers from Harvest Catering included mini tomato pies, caviar, and fried oysters Rockefeller, with a signature old fashioned cocktail and drinks from Spiked by Snyder. The annual fundraiser sustains the 1858 Prize for Contemporary Southern Art, which awards $10,000 to an artist whose work contributes significantly to art in the South. Society 1858, named for the year the Gibbes began their art collection, supports social and educational programs tailored for up-and-coming art patrons. Highlight: Guests dressed in fanciful black-tie attire, donning everything from top hats to feathers. Overheard: “Look at these disco balls. They’re bigger than the tables!” Beneficiary: Gibbes Museum of Art
