Find Harmony - Built in the shingle style to blend into its natural surroundings, this island retreat takes advantage of marsh and golf course scenery with multiple porches. Charlotte-based interior designer Charlotte Lucas outfitted this one, off the breakfast room, with coffee-or-cocktail seating for two. A simple copper lantern keeps the vibe rustic. Location: Cassique on Kiawah Island; Issue: June 2019, “A Kiawah Island Color Palette;” Photographer: Peter Frank EdwardsWeather the Elements - Outdoor-friendly furnishings and materials—performance fabric on the teak lounge chairs and sofa and planks of hardy, rot-resistant garapa—make this covered space overlooking Ralston Creek a sleek yet comfy respite most of the year. Dividing this long porch into two areas—living room in the foreground and dining for 10 in the distance—increases its usefulness and allows many people to enjoy it at once. Furnishings include classic rattan seating from Lane Venture with pillows from Candelabra, and a dining table with handmade rattan chairs from Sika Design USA that will patina to a light gray finish.
