WINNER! Professional category: The Yorktown at Sunset by Josh CorriganWINNER! Amateur category: Before the Storm by Pamela Talbird; “I was driving through Mt. Pleasant when a storm was moving in. The sky was changing drastically so I stopped off at Shem Creek to shoot a few photos before the downpour.”FINALIST Professional category Holy City by Josh Corrigan; “ A view from the window of a newer Charleston residence showing just how many church spires can be found in one place!”FINALIST Professional category: Trinity United Methodist by Lerraine Haak; “A different view of Trinity United Methodist”FINALIST Professional category: The Battery by Taylor Franta; “History buffs enjoy the lengthy history of the battery as much as photographers enjoy its beauty. Each house on East Battery has its own story and these houses have long been some of the most iconic places in all of Charleston.”FINALIST Professional category: Lowcountry Lowtide by Jeremy Clark; “Caught in a small lowcountry creek by the low tide. We may have missed a Friday staff meeting due to this snafu... Taken just north of Isle of Palms on May 29, 2015.”FINALIST Amateur category: Curious Crab by Mark Bisognani; “I shot this on Sullivan's Island last September. He crawled onto my foot while surf fishing!”FINALIST Professional category: Charleston Floods by Jeremy Clark; “Trying to make the best of a bad situation, some friends and I take to the flooded downtown streets of Charleston in a flyfishing skiff. Hurricane Joaquin combined with a stalled frontal system to create historic rainfall levels which were exacerbated by offshore winds and higher than normal "spring tides" and a lot of downtown was underwater.”FINALIST Amateur category: Adventure by Minta Pavliscsak; “This is in Mt. Pleasant at a private residence. This was taken late April 2016, early evening. This is a very special spot for me. This was home for a couple of days, and where I celebrated my birthday with a dear friend.”FINALIST Amateur category: The Giving Tree by Julia Shealy; “This old tree provided much adventure and fun for kids in my neighborhood. They build rope swings, hammocks, and used it as a diving board to plunge into the creek below.”FINALIST Professional category: Swarm by Taylor Franta; “The birds come to life as the sun begins to warm the sky near the Morris Island Lighthouse on 3/3/16. During low tide a sandbar forms out by the lighthouse and the birds seem to enjoy resting their wings on this sandbar. As the tide comes in, however, they are forced to somewhere else to rest.”HONORABLE MENTION Amateur category: Interior of Fort Moultrie Powder Magazine by Ashley Townsend; “Sunlight shining into the powder magazine on Fort Moultrie, August 2015”HONORABLE MENTION Amateur category: Magnolia Fisherman by Sherry Miller; “I found this beautiful guy standing by the edge of the swamp while photographing in Magnolia Plantation. He was so graceful and stoic which immediately caught my eye. Fortunate for me, he was intent on his fishing and never thought anything of my presence while I shot the image.”HONORABLE MENTION Amateur category: Colors in the Swamp by Weatherly Meadors; “A few times a year, mainly in the spring when the light hits just the perfect angle, the surface of the water in this cypress swamp erupt into color palate worthy of any painter. The spectacle may be caused by tannins in the water created a sheen of oil on the surface that reflects the light back in this way. Taken at Caw Caw Interpretive Center, January 2016.”HONORABLE MENTION Amateur category: Night Light Beauty by Amanda Beniash; “This photo was taken at the Harbor View shortly after sunset on a breezy June evening.”HONORABLE MENTION Amateur category: Sullivan's Island Lighthouse by Jay Upchurch; “Sullivan's Island Lighthouse right after sunset”HONORABLE MENTION Amateur category: The Silent Hall by Brandon Coffey; “This is the incredible stair hall at Drayton Hall taken one rainy morning where I was the only person on tour.”HONORABLE MENTION Amateur category: Swamp Friends by Amy Gorby; “These two seemed unlikely friends. They were happily sunning together until the gator got restless. The turtle ended up in the water. Photo taken April 2016 at the Audubon Swamp Garden.”HONORABLE MENTION Amateur category: Dolphin Strand Feeding by Patricia Schaefer; “Dolphin strand feeding is a unique behavior seen in the Charleston area. The dolphin work together using echolocation to toss fish up onto the shore and then throw themselves on the bank to feed. They safely return to the water to try again if they are still hungry. Taken on Seabrook Island on September 15, 2015.”HONORABLE MENTION Amateur category: Sand Trail by Patricia Schaefer; “This is a capture of a very small sand trail left as the tide receded. The image was taken at Seabrook Island on Augst 28, 2015 around noon. The viewer can decide what they see in the image.”HONORABLE MENTION Amateur category: Sunset on Broad by Joanna Walker; “This image was taken as the sun was setting over Broad Street on March 13 at about 7:25. I was driving and just in awe of what was in front of me. Luckily I got stopped at this red light so I had the chance to snap this picture.”HONORABLE MENTION Amateur category: Battery Sunset by Emily Deal; “I took this photograph (with my iPhone) on January 29, 2015 at the Battery around 5:45 p.m. My roommate and I stopped our bike ride to admire the beautiful sunset. We enjoy taking bike rides to the Battery, even during cold weather, because Charleston's historic architecture never gets old! The Battery is the perfect setting to watch the sunset. You never see the same sunset twice, so I'm glad I captured this particular one.”HONORABLE MENTION Professional category: Ibis Gathering by Donnie Smith; “Magnolia Cemetery has a very diverse bird population. It's a popular spot for Charleston birders.”HONORABLE MENTION Professional category: Charleston Charm by Laura Hasemeyer; “Only the most charming city in the world! State Street, Spring 2014”HONORABLE MENTION Professional category: A Winter Sunrise Over Mystery Stillness by Katelin Morales; “The second image of my Sullivan's Island infrared black and white collection. Shot on February 28, 2016 at approximately 9 a.m. with a Canon 6D.”HONORABLE MENTION Professional category: Ravenel Bridge in the Mist by Justin FalkHONORABLE MENTION Professional category: Folly Fog by Pamela Oliveras “I drove down to Folly in January to capture the sunset and right as I got there a fog started rolling in. But it made the shot for me with the bit of the sunset orange pushing through and the blue of the beach house—gorgeous!”
