Bourbon, Bowties, and Cigars
The Party: There was no shortage of booze or dapper dress at the Thomas Bennett House during this year’s Bourbon, Bowties, and Cigars event. A fundraiser for Positive Strides—an organization that seeks to provide support and aid to student athletes who have suffered any number of life-changing, sports-related injuries—the annual affair invited guests to socialize while indulging in tasty hors d’oeuvres such as fresh jumbo shrimp and pork sliders and sip on a large selection of fine Bourbon and other libations. A pianist provided light accompaniment for partygoers smoking cigars from local purveyors in the gardens and bidding on a plethora of silent auction items, including tickets to next year’s Charleston Wine + Food, DIY Bourbon and cigar party kits, and more. Highlight: Stedbee handmade bowties up for auction, crafted from native seashells as an ode to the coastal setting Overheard: “Does bourbon on the rocks offset this pink bow tie?” Beneficiary: Positive Strides
