Kitchen Tunes: “We try to keep it chill. We listen to reggae, Otis Redding, Mumford & Sons—everything but death metal and hardcore country. ”The Dish: “Carrot dogs! To see the students’ eyes light up! We also cook with ginger a lot and teach them how to brighten food with it. ”Thanksgiving Tradition: “Oysters: every year, we roast them at my sister’s house or mine for a very laid-back first course.”In the Fridge: “I’ve been on a diet the past three months, so I have pickled eggs, salmon, and capers. I eat salmon four days a week!”Pantry Staples: “Rosemary, fennel seed, and chili flakes. Current favorites are Palmini noodles (pasta made with hearts of palm) and canned octopus.”
