Lime greens and hot oranges, deer antlers and bright botanicals: the quilts that 30-something Caitlin Pape’s creating in her downtown home studio are a far cry from your grandma’s (but intended to be treasured for just as long). A former graphic and web designer, Pape launched Rose & Twill just over a year ago, not long after the cover of a quilting magazine inspired her to teach herself the form of textile art.
”A quilt is basically a graphic design, but you can hold it, cuddle with it, and keep it forever,” says Pape, who sells her work at www.roseandtwill.com (opens in a new tab) and www.Etsy.com (opens in a new tab), fulfilling many custom orders along the way. ”It’s satisfying working with people and creating exactly what they want,” she notes.
